Carol Hoopes passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at her home in Dubois.
Carol was born April 2, 1943, in Idaho Falls, she was the daughter of Morris and Leah Colson Tavenner. She grew up in Dubois and attended school in Dubois. She graduated from the Clark County High School in May of 1961.
On July 28, 1961, she married Jerry Hoopes in Rexburg, Idaho. They lived in Buffalo and Jeffery City, Wyoming for several months then they moved to Vernal, UT for several months before returning to Idaho. They lived at Howe, Idaho for a short time, then they moved back to Dubois.
Carol worked in the potato warehouse for many years. In October 1981 she went to work for Clark County Sheriff’s office. She worked there until April of 1984. She went to work for the Clark County extensions office. Carol worked for Clark County for a total of 25 year. During those years she received some awards; Certificate of Recognition from Clark County for Outstanding Service to the citizens of Clark County and for serving on the Election Board in Clark County, and a certificate of Recognition from the Idaho Cooperative Extension System for outstanding service to the company. The Idaho Association of Extension 4-H Agents proudly recognized Carol and some other people for helping with excellent programming and outstanding service in 4-H and they gave her a thank you award. The Dubois Lions Club gave her a Certificate of Appreciation. She also received a certificate of participation from the Northeast Idaho Regional Exercise, and a certificate of Participation for attending Clark County WMD/T Exercise. She retired from Clark County in October of 2006. After she retired she worked part time for the Dubois Forest Service for several years.
Carol really enjoyed spending time with her sons, granddaughter, nieces, nephews, and her close friends. She liked going up in the mountains and looking for elk, moose, deer, grouse, game birds and sage chickens. She really liked her dog Buddy and really liked horses.
She is survived by her husband Jerry, her wonderful sons, Marty Dean Hoopes of Rexburg, Idaho, Shane Todd Hoopes of Dubois, Idaho, her awesome granddaughter Jencee, her wonderful nieces and nephews, and her wonderful cousins.
Carol was preceded by her parents, a sister Shirley McClure, and two brothers Wayne and Bob Tavenner.
Burial at the Dubois Cemetery will be held at a later date.Visits: 0
