Carol Lea Harrop was born October 30, 1943, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the youngest daughter of Cleo Jesse Rostan Harrop and Eveline M ‘Peggy’ Fife. The family lived in LaBelle, Idaho. Carol went to school in Rigby, Idaho, and graduated from Rigby High school. Carol was a happy little girl. She was always very close to her mother until her mother passed when Carol was 13 years old. Dorleen, Carol’s older sister, said she remembered Carol as being a “good little person”; she was always doctoring the animals and putting bandaids on them. Carol spent a lot of time with her big sister Dorleen; Carol went everywhere with her big sister. Dorleen was 14 years older than Carol, but she always cared for Carol, as she was the family’s baby. Larry, her older brother, was 9 years older than Carol. As big brothers do, he teased her a lot. But loved his baby sister as only a brother can. A couple of years after Carol’s mother passed her father married Ruth Fugate. This added to the family dynamic. The family grew with three stepsisters and one stepbrother. One of the stepsisters was close to Carol’s age, Norma. They became best friends and true sisters.
After Carol graduated from High school, she married her high school sweetheart Terry Lee; they were married in Lorenzo, Idaho April 12, 1963; they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she lived the rest of her life. They had two children, first a son, Mark, and then a daughter Barbie. With great enthusiasm, Carol loved her children and supported them through their many social activities.
Carol was also a savvy businesswoman and was the first woman in Idaho Falls to own a car rental franchise with two successful locations - Idaho Falls, ID, and Jackson Hole, WY. After many years she sold the franchise and soon went to work for the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce. Carol loved meeting and working with local businesses in Idaho; even after her retirement, her service continued with the Chamber Ambassadors. She loved people and loved being involved in her community.
