The world lost a very special woman on February 19, 2021. My name is RaiElle and I'm honored to tell you about my beautiful Mom, Carol Anne Jensen Olson, age 69, who passed away due to complications from cancer. Her sister Susan and I held her hands as she went to join our Heavenly Father.
She was a Halloween baby, born 10-31-51, to her loving parents, Dee and Janette Jensen, in St. Anthony, ID. She graduated from West Jefferson High School in 1969. After a couple moves to MD and CA, she made her home in Terreton, ID right next door to her parents, never moving again. She said as you come over the hill just west of Sage Junction and see the valley below, with the lake and the mountains, her heart was at peace. She was home.
She always wanted to be a farmer's wife and fulfilled that wish on August 10, 1994 when she married Lynn Olson. They were married 26 years.
She retired in 2012 from the INL Site after 34 years. She loved retirement; getting to read, crochet and sit on the deck with her animals, sipping creamer “with a bit of coffee” and just watching the hummingbirds and the view of the Tetons.
She was a compassionate, intelligent, charming and super funny, quick-witted lady. No one can make me laugh harder than she could. She had a contagious laugh and we'd be doubled over gasping for air. I have so many fond memories of days spent in Kilgore, Spencer and Island Park with her and my grandparents. Camping and riding horses were special times for us. We loved to watch for bluebirds and wildflowers along our drives.
Mom was incredibly supportive and nurturing. She went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care, went to college and always had a safe place to come back home to. She was very open and approachable; animals, babies and even just people standing in check-out lines were drawn to her. She was a social butterfly and enjoyed getting together with her friends and family. We spent many hours putting puzzles together, painting, landscaping and watching movies and meteor showers. We never ended a conversation without saying "I love you".
Survivors include myself (her only daughter), RaiElle Jensen of Terreton, ID, her sister, Susan (Rod) Fisher of Pocatello, ID, her husband, Lynn Olson, of Terreton, ID, her fur baby DarBee and grand-dog Czico. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Those wishing to honor Carol are invited to make a donation in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, UT. When you see a butterfly or a hummingbird, please think of my Mom. Whisper “I Love You” and they will fly to Heaven and deliver your message.
Momma, I love you more than these words can even express. You are my best friend and I was so blessed by God to have you. Until I can hold you again in Heaven, I shall hold you close in my heart.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
