Carolyn Dorn Devine, 72, died Sunday morning, August 2nd, at her home in Rigby. She was born December 24, 1936, in San Francisco to a prominent pioneer family and grew up in the California communities of Hillsboro and Ross, where she attended school, raced sailboats and won equestrian events. On April 21, 1969, in Seattle, Washington, she married Mark Frederick Devine. Together they owned and operated small businesses in the western United States and Southeast Asia.
Carolyn was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 6 PM on August 1st, 2009; she particularly enjoyed reading, socializing, children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Mark F. Devine, of Rigby, two grandsons, Patrick and Liam Clark, a wonderful daughter and son, Linda (Ada Marin) Clark and Darwin (Marg Stark) Clark, all of San Diego, CA, along with brothers, M. Douglas Dorn of the Caribbean, Christopher (Susan) Dorn of Portland, OR, and Bruce (Andrea) Dorn, of Seattle. She was preceded in death by her parents A. Douglas Dorn and Lucia M. Dorn.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the Rigby East Stake Center, with Loren Rogers, conducting. The family will receive friends at the stake center from noon to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, prior to services. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial chapel in Rigby.
