Chad Buttars

Chad Buttars, age 76, of Hamer, Idaho passed away at his home, Monday, August 7, 2017.Chad was born December 1, 1940 in Jerome, Idaho a son of John Earl and Agnes Emily Godfrey Buttars. He attended schools in Jerome graduating from Jerome High School.  Following graduation, he attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho.  He served a mission for the LDS Church to the Northern Indian Mission in Montana, and served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1965.  He married Rhea Jeneanne Mecham, August 10th 1973 in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple.  They farmed in the Monteview area for 18 years, and he worked as transportation supervisor for the West Jefferson School District 253 for 18 years from 1988 until 2006.  After his retirement, he served in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple until the temple was closed for renovations in 2015.  He loved to read his magazines, snowmobiling, four wheeling, being at the cabin and boating.  Taking care of everyone is just what he did. Survivors include his children: Emily Buttars Barnes (Thomas) of Ammon, Idaho, Heidi Buttars Mikkola (Heath) of Idaho Falls, Kelly David Buttars (KaraDawn) of Ririe, Andrew John Buttars of Hamer, and Charlie Chad Buttars (Gayle) of Riverton, Utah, sisters: Venetta Anderson of Ammon and Beth Haynes (Monty) of Columbus, Ohio, a brother Lavar Buttars (Jean) of Jerome, and twelve grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Rhea Jeneanne Mecham Buttars, his parents, two sisters Dorothy Buttars and Charlene Buttars. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Terreton LDS Stake Center. The family will visit with friends: Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Terreton LDS Stake Center.  Burial will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to assist with funeral costs.
