Charles Leonard Day

Charles Leonard Day, 79, of Menan, Idaho passed away Friday, July 5, 2024 at the Idaho Falls Community Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Charles was born March 29, 1945 in Greeley, Colorado, the son of Clifford Barton Day and Dortha Toots Christensen Day. He attended schools at Kinghorn Elementary, Menan Elementary, Midway Jr High, and graduated from Rigby High School. He served his country in the Idaho National Guard from April 1968 through September 1969 during the Vietnam War and retired from the National Guard in 1990. On April 3, 1970 he married Betty Walker in Menan, Idaho. Their marriage solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on September 4, 1993. He worked as a truck driver for Idaho Packaging. He had previously worked for Snake River Equipment. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he had the opportunity to serve with the Boy Scouts of America as a Scout Master and Cub Master. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Charles enjoyed going fishing, mowing his lawn, growing roses, doing family history, and collecting coins. Charles is survived by his wife, Betty Day. His children; Kathy (Tim) Burgess of Sunset, Utah, Jeff (Toni) Day of Rigby, Idaho, Rod (Jana) Day of Rigby, Idaho and Jason (Chandra) Day of Monteview, Idaho. A sister, Carol (Ron) Walls of Sunset, Utah and eight grandchildren; Wyatt, Whitley, Jonah, C.J. Wylee, Kasen, Zaylee and Kinsley. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Reegan Day and three brothers; Walter, Alvie, and Clifford Day. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 11:00 am at Eckersell Funeral Home (101 West Main Street, Rigby, ID). The family will meet with friends from 9:30 to 10:50 am prior to the service. Interment will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. We share a special thanks to the nursing staff and doctors at Idaho Community Hospital for their attention and care given to our husband and dad in the last few days of his life.
