Charles David Kelsey, 73, of Rigby, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013.
He was born February 26, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Claude Kelsey and Nettie Singleton Kelsey. He was raised and attended schools in Shelley, graduating from Shelley High School. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army, where he was a Golden Glove Boxer. On November 26, 1965, he married Nina Bradley in Shelley; to this union they added 3 sons. David owned and operated Kelsey Flying Service in Rexburg, he crop dusted throughout Idaho, in Walla Walla, Washington, and parts of California. He also drove school bus for Jefferson School District 251.
David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was also a member of the National Agriculture Aviation Association. David enjoyed flying, hunting and fishing on the North Fork of the Salmon River and in the Frank Church Wilderness area, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Scott (Leisa) Kelsey, of Rigby, Lynn Kelsey, of Rigby, sisters, DeAnne (Ken) Anderson, of Colorado, Della (Alma) Mallard, of Idaho Falls, Dawn Clifford, of Idaho Falls, brother Dix (Laska) Kelsey, of St. George, Utah, 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Nina Kelsey, son, Steven W. Kelsey, brothers, Duen Kelsey, Deloy Kelsey, Dean Kelsey, and a sister, Debra Kelsey.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Teton Newdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2013 and prior to the graveside service Saturday, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
