Cheryl Lynn Mathers

October 26, 1947 — March 11, 2024

Cheryl Lynn Mathers was born on October 26, 1947, in Weiser, Idaho, to Owen Horne and Velma Rose Nielson. She was the only daughter and middle child, with two brothers: Richard Horne residing in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Tom Horne in Ogden, Utah. Cheryl's formative years were primarily spent in Stibnite, Primville, and Bend, Oregon. She graduated from Bend Senior High School in 1967. Cheryl loved her son, Kevin Mathers, and cherished daughter-in-law Stefanie. Her pride and joy were her two beloved granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth and Emily Grace, alongside her three grandchildren, Ellie, Boone, and Javier.

Renowned for her exceptional crocheting skills, Cheryl was known for her kindness, generosity, and personality devoid of judgment. Affectionately using the term "babe" for her loved ones, she was fondly referred to as Grandma by all at the Rigby Country Living, where she resided the last five years. Cheryl held a special place in the hearts of her family, leaving an irreplaceable void. Her life philosophy emphasized love and gratitude for simple pleasures like popcorn, fishing, county fairs, Cheetos, Animal Planet, garage sales, Elvis, and fresh tea. Cheryl was highly esteemed by the residents, yet her influence extended even further to the resident animals. Every cat and dog found a cherished place on her chair, reciprocating the love she generously bestowed upon them.

Cheryl held a deep affection for her family, offering warm embraces without expecting anything in return. Cheryl peacefully passed away on Monday, March 11th, 2024, with her sisters-in-law, Sandra and Gale, by her bedside. Her final resting place will be in the Weiser, Idaho cemetery at a later date.
