Chester Laren Yates

Chester L. Yates, age 91, of Rigby, passed away at Madison Memorial Hospital, Saturday August 22, 2015. He was born February 2, 1924 at Lakepoint, Utah a son to Charles Harris Yates and Maime Marie Hammond Yates. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1004. On February 3rd 1944 he married Betsy RaDean Moncur in Toole, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple April 27, 1965. Chet, RaDean, and family lived in San Diego, California for five years before returning to Rigby I n1961. They have lived in the same house since then. After retirement, Chet and RaDean spent 22 years in Quartzsite, Arizona. They loved fishing in Island Park. Chet loved hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife Bettsy RaDean Moncur Yates of Rigby, daughters: Beverly Jean (Todd) Morris of Ashton and Shelly Marie Lott of Idaho Falls; son: Doug (Donna) Yates of Rexburg; brothers: Delbert Yates of Hurricane, Utah and Grant Yates of Deer Park, Washington, twelve grandchildren, forty seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Chet was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Maime, brothers: Jerry and Luke Yates, sisters: Geniveve, Berniece and Effie; and a son: Darrell Laren Yates who died as a baby. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rigby 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 364 N. 4100 E. Rigby, ID. The family will visit with friends Monday, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Funeral Home 101 West Main Street, Rigby, and for one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
