Charles “Chuck” Henry Dearborn, 84, of Rexburg, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.
He was born Sept 29, 1929 at Lone Pine, California. His family moved to Bonanza, Oregon where he attended school. He enjoyed playing sports and was on the basketball, softball and football teams while attending high school.
The family later moved to the Boise, Idaho area where he attended Boise State University and he played football for them as well.
On November 9, 1953, he married Nedra Joan Kirby in the Logan LDS Temple.
Chuck worked for the Mountain Bell Telephone and Telegraph Co. He worked in Idaho, Wyoming and Arizona and returned to Idaho where he finished his career. He retired in 1984 as a Manager in Distribution Services. He was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
After retirement he and his wife spent many winters in Queen Valley, Arizona. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing in Idaho, Canada, and Alaska. The fall of the year was a time for the vacation to the Selway area for friends and family. This was the annual gathering (men only) for the telling of tall tales, a lot of fun “elk camping”, and some hunting.
Chuck is survived by his wife, N. Joan Dearborn, of Rexburg, son, Charles Kip & Elana Dearborn, of Centennial, Colorado, daughters, Tanya & Lynn Kauer, of Rexburg, Tina Michelle & Tony Perez of Rigby, sisters, Marilyn & Ray Brown, of Boise, and Helen Babbith, of Fayetteville North Carolina. He is the proud grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, with more on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Grace Cemetery in Grace, Idaho around 2:00 p.m. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
