Clair Don Lovell, age 63, Ririe, Idaho passed away on April 13, 2024, at Madison Memorial Hospital due to ongoing health challenges.
Clair was born on April 14, 1960, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is the seventh child of Rendon David Lovell and Maralyn Hill Lovell. Clair’s health complications began at birth, and he spent many months back and forth to Primary Children’s Hospital with doctors trying to discern the problem.
He attended Ririe Schools and made lifelong friends with students, teachers, and coaches. Clair assisted the athletic department in every opportunity possible and over that time, became the #1 Ririe Bulldog Fan. An amazing opportunity happened for him when his Uncle George L. Lovell served as Mission President for the Dallas, Texas Mission. Clair lived with them and attended a special developmental school that was life-changing. He came home with increased attributes and skills and thrilled everyone with the growth he experienced.
Clair was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Ririe Lion’s Club. He kept score for the city league basketball teams and loved being a part of the community. A highlight of his life is how the community loved him back. Everyone cared for him and made his life better. His treasured honor happened when the school named the football field after him, Clair Lovell Field.
After high school, he worked at Deseret Industries and Upper Valley Industries. It was at Upper Valley Industries, he met his sweetheart, Melina Warner from Terreton, Idaho. They were married on November 21, 1997, in the Idaho Falls Temple. This marriage brought additional joy to Clair’s life with more family that loved him. Kent “Doc” and Brenda Warner and their family blessed his life.
Clair and Melina have been married for twenty-six years and have been loved and greatly supported by family and friends from the Terreton and Ririe communities. Everywhere Clair went, he encountered friends who would laugh and joke with him about sports and life.
For the past eight years, Clair resided at Carriage Cove, Rexburg, Idaho. He developed a new group of friends that made life good for him and for those he laughed with. His family is grateful for the care and kindness he enjoyed there.
Clair is survived by his wife, Melina Warner Lovell, and siblings Paul (Brenda) Lovell, Renee (Kim) Ritter, Mark (Vickie) Lovell, Diane (Terry) Hulse, Marian (Lance) Cygielman, Hope Lovell (sister-in-law), and thirty-three nieces and nephews.
Clair is preceded in death by his parents Rendon and Maralyn Lovell, his brother James R. Lovell, two nieces, and one nephew.
