Clara “Coke” Skerjanc Winscot, 74, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at her home in Rigby, Idaho surrounded by her family.
She was born to William and Lenna Skerjanc January 12, 1939. She attended and graduated from Butte High School. She married her high school sweetheart Charley Sherman Winscot Jr. on January 27, 1957. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on July 25, 1981. The early years were busy raising their 5 children and building several homes together. Anywhere Charley was, Coke was close behind, always holding up one end of a board or casting a fishing line into their favorite fishing hole.
She turned a ceramics hobby into “Coke’s Ceramic Greenware” in Whitehall, Montana. After 10 years, they moved to Rexburg, Idaho. There she worked for Artco Wedding Invitations as an Accounting Supervisor. But, they missed the beautiful mountains and fishing spots in Montana, so they moved back home. She worked for 9 years for the Department of Revenue as a Residential Appraiser before she retired.
Her family always came first; most of her spare time was spent enjoying her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Next, was her love of the outdoors; she enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and yard work. She was told on many occasions that her yard looked like the City Park. Another highlight in her life was the trip she won to visit Elvis Presley’s Graceland Mansion. She went on the trip with her daughter, Lynda. The trip began with a limousine ride to the airport and from there days were spent touring Elvis Presley’s mansion, and seeing all the sights in Memphis, Tennessee. This was the beginning of more trips that took her and Charley to Hawaii, an Alaskan fishing cruise and the Mexican Riviera with her daughter Sue and family.
She leaves behind her sweetheart of 56 years, Charley, children: Chuck (Kathy) Winscot, Steve Winscot, Lynda (Gilbert) Marquez, Sue (Troy) Miller, and Rick (Stormi) Winscot, a brother Bill (Carol) Skerjanc, 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She will be missed for so many reasons; her caring loving ways towards everyone, her memorable smile and laugh, she was always the life of the party. We loved her sunny disposition and positive attitude towards whatever came her way, and if you heard singing or humming it was probably her enjoying her favorite tunes.
