Claris Taylor, 86, of Rigby, Idaho passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Morning Star Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. Claris was born November 5, 1930, in Rigby, Idaho, to Delbert Kinghorn and Melba Maria Bright Kinghorn. She was raised in Rigby where she attended school and graduated from Rigby High School in 1949. After high school, she attended a semester at BYU Provo. She married Martel LaVaughn Taylor on March 26, 1950 in Rigby and were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple November 22, 1950. Claris worked at Idaho First National Bank in Rigby for 20 years. In 1977, Martel and Claris opened Taylor’s Quick Stop on Highway 20 in Rigby. Claris was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many capacities in the church. Compassionate service was her favorite. She enjoyed needle point work, working in her garden, especially raising raspberries. She loved and supported her family. She is survived by her daughter, Janell Wetherell, of Rigby, son, Steven K (Nancy) Taylor of Rigby, sister Amy Jane Kraupp of Rigby, brother, D. Nyle (Susan) Kinghorn of Redmond, Washington, 7 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martel, parents, and her sister, Lois Taylor. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Rigby 9th Ward, 258 West 1st North Rigby, Idaho. The family will visit with friends Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main St. Rigby, Idaho, and on Wednesday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the Rigby Stake Center. Interment will be at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com. We express our love and appreciation to the staff of Morning Star Assisted Living and Encompass Home Health & Hospice for their tender care of our mother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the missionary fund in your ward.
