Claudia Wheeler Steltzer; age 68 of Ucon, Idaho died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at her home in
Ucon. Claudia was born September 11, 1934 at Ririe, Idaho the daughter of Fred Claude Wheeler and
Zelpha Rosella Tirrell Wheeler. She attended school in Ririe, Idaho and graduated from Ririe
High School. She married Alvin Julius Steltzer on September 3, 1953 in Ririe, Idaho. They would have celebrated fifty years of marriage in September. Their marriage was solemnized at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1966.
She worked as a teachers aid for fifteen years in School District 93 at the Ucon Elementary School. She helped by working on the family farm in Ucon, milking cows and various other jobs. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints she had served in the Young Women’s Program, as a Primary Teacher, and in the Relief Society Presidency,
Compassionate Service Leader, Visiting Teacher and as Bulletin Chairman for the Ward. She
was a member of the Easy Breathers Club and had been a member of the Rigby Bowling League. She was an outstanding mother and grandmother who enjoyed crocheting, quilting, handiwork, painting, ceramics, gardening and being in the out of doors with her family. She is survived by her husband; Alvin Julius Steltzer of Ucon, Idaho. Three daughters; Gina Marie (Doug) Piper of Lewiston, Idaho, Carol Lynn (Robert) Johnson of Grant, Idaho and Brenda Lee (Paul) Pincock of Teton City, Idaho. One son; Clint (Rae Ann) Steltzer of Ucon, Idaho. Seventeen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Geraldine Hammond.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2003 in the Milo 2nd Ward LDS Chapel at
11:00 a.m. with Bishop Kenneth Stucki conducting. The family will meet with friends at
Eckersell Memorial Chapel (101 W. Main, Rigby) on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Milo 2nd Ward LDS Church. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery in Ucon, Idaho.
