Clea May Briggs

Clea May Briggs, 93 of Rexburg, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at Good Samaritan Society in Idaho Falls. She was born May 10, 1915 in Archer, a daughter of George Lelen Weekes and Martha Galbraith Weekes. She attended schools in archer and graduated as Valedictorian from Madison High School. On September 8, 1934, she married Elmer E. Briggs in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan L.D.S. Temple July 2, 1935. She worked in several potato warehouses, at the Kings store in Rexburg and at Ricks College for 7 years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Sunday School, M.I.A, Young Woman’s Presidency, and Relief Society. She is survived by 3 daughters, Elaine (Lee) Yokom, of St. Anthony, Barbara (George) Hardy, of Idaho Falls, Madeline (Edwin) Colburn, of West Jordan, Utah, 3 sons, Lynn (Norma) Briggs, of Archer, Lee (Julie) Briggs, of Idaho Falls, Larry (Sonia) Briggs, of Archer, son-in-law, James Dennis, of Rexburg, 3 sisters, Anita Peterson, of Lyman, Leah Andersen, of Idaho Falls, Maxine Hope, of Idaho Falls, 2 brothers, Junior (Slim) Weekes of Basin, Wyoming, DeVar Weekes, of Salem, 22 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elmer E. Briggs, a daughter, Loretta Clea Dennis, 4 sisters, Delpha Beck, Artella Schneiter, Eva Hubbard, Lillian Bell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Archer L.D.S. Chapel, with Bishop Reese Nelson, conducting. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Friday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., Saturday, at the Church. Burial will be in the Sutton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
