Cleo E. Smith, 80, of Rigby, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Idaho Falls. Cleo was born April 19, 1924 at Downey, Idaho a daughter of David Lorenzo Larson and Bessie Claire Bloxham Larson. She attended schools in Rupert. She earned awards in penmanship and art during her high school years. She married Leslie Paige Duncan in Rupert, Idaho in 1941. They moved to Wallace, Kellogg Riggins, and Rigby, Idaho. He preceded her in death. In 1964 she married James H. Woods. They later divorced and she married Fred Lewis Smith in 1969. She worked throughout her life as a bartender and hostess at Don’s Lounge, Cozy Club, J R’s and also worked as a manager and bookkeeper. She also worked in the School Lunch Program at Kinghorn Elementary. She received awards as Mother of the Year, Idaho’s best Bar Tender and in Rigby many awards in Billiards. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, her grandchildren, Elvis, John Wayne, western movies, playing pool, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles and art. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and supported the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She is survived by 3 daughters: Sheryl D. (Neldon) Baird of Rigby; Kathee J. (Kirk) Scott of Rigby; and Shauna D. (Roy) Rippetoe of Rigby; 2 sons: David P. (Sandy) Duncan of Rigby; and Robert Kevin (Patsy) Duncan of Rigby; 3 sisters: Bonnie Lake of Idaho Falls, Joyce Hirsch of Heyburn, Idaho and Donna Aare of Twin Falls, Idaho; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Her husband Leslie Paige Duncan, 1 son Leslie D. Duncan and 3 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 5, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Friday Evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Milo Cemetery.
