Lurline Champion, 91, of Rigby, died Friday, April 21, 2006 at the Idaho Falls Health and Rehab Center.
Lurline was born on January 27, 1915 in Verona, Tennessee a daughter of Thomas Jefferson Staggs and Minnie Lorene Harris Staggs. She was raised and attended school in Ucon. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lurline had worked as a waitress in her early years and she worked for Muir-Roberts in Rigby for several years. She married Thomas Edgar Loynd on February 4, 1932 in Rigby, Idaho. They later divorced. She married Jesse Rulon Champion on December 2, 1977 in Rigby, Idaho. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Lurline enjoyed fishing, square dancing and crocheting.
Lurline is survived by her two sons; Gail E. (Kathleen) Loynd of Chesterfield, and Lavon Dee (Jamie) Loynd of Custer County, one sister Leona (Jack) Later of Rigby, and one brother Lee (Lida) Staggs of Rigby, 10 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
Lurline was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel at 1:00 p.m. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery following the service.
