Clyde R. Gillespie, 77 of Rigby, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2013, after a two year battle with cancer.
Clyde was born on March 18, 1936 in Farragut, Iowa to Clyde and Vera Maxine Gillespie. Clyde was raised in Tetonia, ID and graduated from Driggs High School. He spent six years in the military and attended Idaho State University and finished his Civil Engineering degree at University of Idaho. On September 22, 1961, he married Sue Griggs; their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were blessed with four daughters.
Clyde worked for the State Highway Department for 30 years, retiring as Assistant District Engineer. He held various church positions and provided many hours of service. Clyde enjoyed golfing, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Clyde is survived by his wife Sue Gillespie, of Rigby, four daughters, Patti Suitter, Jan (Travis) Jorgensen, Pam Olsen, and Kristi Gillespie, all of Idaho Falls, sister, Vivian Fisher of Blackfoot, and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Cameron Suitter, and James Jorgensen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 26, at the Rigby Stake Center, 258 W. 1st N., Rigby. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services, both at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
