Conal Jay Erickson

May 30, 1953 — February 8, 2025

Conal “Jay” Erickson slipped away quietly, to ride horses with his Dad, Saturday morning February 8, 2025, at his home in Ucon, Idaho.

Jay or Crazy J, ash he was known to his trucking comrades, was born May 30, 1953 in Rigby, Idaho to Robert William Erickson and Dora Jean Armstrong, five minutes after his twin brother, Ray.  His younger days were spent at the family home in Lewisville, Idaho where he attended Lewisville Elementary.  The family moved to Idaho Falls in 1961 and he attended Hawthorne Elementary, OE Bell Junior High, and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1971.  After high school he attended Devry University where he studied how to make motion pictures.

In his youth he participated in the scouting program and working with his cousins on Neal Erickson’s farms in the Lewisville area.  He learned to drive all sorts of farm vehicles including trucks.  He worked various jobs but mainly as a long-haul truck driver.  He worked for Nicholas Moving and Storage, Edwards Brothers Trucking, and Doug Andrus Distributing.  He has earned more than one plaque that says he has driven over 1 million miles safely.

He married Diane Jorganson on the 10 of January 1975.  They later divorced.

He was always a hard worker and loved to fish, hunt, camp, read, work and ride horses, and have a lively conversation with everyone he met.  His hobbies were hauling fire wood and being with his grandchildren, especially to tease them or feed them ice cream.  He loved the Ucon area and lived there most of his adult life.  He loved helping others and being a good friend to all.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved ministering to his assigned families and being on the Security Team at the Ucon Stake Center.

He is survived by his children Vickie, Carl, Benjamin (Amyah), Denis (Kathy), and Allan (Frankie).  His grandchildren Kortney, Kodie (Chelsie), Mary, Alaina, Lily, Joshua, Russell, Krystal (Rhett), Allan, Darian, Sarah, Levi, Emily, Hannah, Caleb, Taylor, Keygen, Brodie, and Sammy.  The greatgrandchildren and several other children he considered his grandchildren.  His brother and sisters: Roberta (Bryon), Alice (Michael), William, Ray, Terri (Lonnie), Peggy (John), Helen (Thomas), and Sarah (Lou).  Many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bob and, Jean, and his daughter Dianna.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Ucon Stake Center (2967 N. 105 E. Idaho Falls) at 11:00 a.m.  A meet and greet will start at 9:00 a.m. and go till the time of service.  Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery with a luncheon at the Stake Center following the burial.
