Helen "Connie" Barnes passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2012 in the loving arms of her daughter Annette and her family at their home in Roundlake Beach, IL. Connie was born on January 30, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA to parents Frederick John Brennfleck and Helen Ziolkowski. She was the oldest of 6 children; Frederick (who preceded her in death), Edith, Henry, and twin brothers Richard and Raymond, who only survived a few days after their birth. Connie attended Most Holy Name Catholic School until the 8th grade. She graduated from Allegheny High School as the Salutatorian in June 1952. She attended Pitt University and later in her life went back to school and took various classes at a Community College in Concord, CA. Some of her loves were math, budgeting, cooking, and sewing. On August 5, 1961, she married John Glasser Barnes. At the age of 34, Connie became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Connie had a great love for the church and served in many different capacities throughout her life. Some of these included: serving a mission for the church in Morristown, New Jersey as the Financial Secretary in a Mission Office, as well as serving a mission for the Humanitarian Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Connie was preceded in death by her husband John, who passed away on July 6, 1996. She is survived by her 6 children, 24 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. They are as follows: Annette McLane and her 6 children: Kathryn, Merideth, Lauren, Natalie, Everett, and Ammon. Barbara Sanders and her 4 children: Samantha, Stephanie, Shelley, and Adam. John Barnes and his 3 children: Ashley, Mitchell, and Tanner. Cathi Cenatiempo and her 5 children: Kurtis, Candace, Kyle, Keaton, and Kade. Debbie Moon and her 2 children: Blake and Max. Edie Anderson and her 4 children: Carter, Caden, Cienna, and Chloe. She also has 1 great-grandchild: Christopher. Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery. Any donations in honor of Helen "Connie" Barnes can be made to the Humanitarian Services of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 50 East North Temple Street, Floor 7, Salt Lake City UT, 84150-6890.
