Rigby

Connie Millard, 93 of Rigby, Idaho passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

Born June 25, 1932, in Franklin, Idaho, Connie was the third of seven children of George Lynn and Ila (Christensen) Oliverson. She grew up on the family farm, where early mornings, hard work, and a deep love of horses shaped her life. As a teenager, her poise on horseback earned her the titles, Preston Rodeo Queen (1947) and Miss Rodeo Idaho (1949), an accomplishment she carried with humility and pride.

Connie found her calling in cosmetology. After advanced training in Pocatello and Idaho Falls, she became a licensed cosmetologist and later an instructor. In 1960 she opened her own salon in Rigby, where for decades she served the community with skill and kindness. She mentored many young stylists who went on to open successful shops. Known for her tender care of clients facing illness, Connie kept an extensive selection of wigs and hairpieces and often made home and assisted living visits, so no one went without care.

On January 27, 1965, Connie married Lyle Millard, and together they built a life rich with family, friendship, and the outdoors, snowmobiling, boating, hunting, and fishing, especially around Island Park and the Salmon River. A markswoman with quiet grit, she harvested deer, elk, and antelope and cherished drawing a once in a lifetime bull moose tag in 1996 that she filled with a 42 inch spread moose. She remained active and independent well into later years.

Civic-minded and community focused, Connie helped organize the Jefferson County Trend Setters (serving as president) and participated in local service clubs. Her faith, work ethic, and compassion anchored everything she did.

She is survived by her son Michael Millard and his wife, Sandra (Lindstrom) Millard, her brother Glade and his wife Kathie Oliverson and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, George Lynn and Ila Oliverson. Her brothers and sisters; Garth Oliverson, Tex Oliverson, Letha Busboom, LaRue Jenkins, and Maxine Anderson.

A remembrance of life will be held in the summer of 2026; date, time, and location will be announced by the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a favorite community cause in Connie’s name.

A special thank you to Homestead Assisted Living Center, and to the caring owners and staff, for the exceptional care and friendship they provided to Connie over the last six years of her life. It is a truly warm and loving place that allowed her to make new friends, share in many adventures, and feel at home. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the hospice team for the compassionate care they provided to keep her comfortable during her final days on this earth.
