Andre Corbin McMurtrey Phillips, 22, of Rigby passed away at his home Sunday January 13, 2019.
Corbin was born November 10, 1996 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was raised in Rigby where he attended school and was actively involved in sports, particularly football. While in school, Corbin was featured on Good Morning America for an invention he created. He excelled in school, earning college credits while in high school and went on to attend classes at Houston Community College. Most recently, Corbin had been accepted into Berklee School of Music and was eager to begin studying music production. Another of Corbin’s passions was boxing, and he had obtained his pass card to participate in matches. He loved to travel the world and provide service to those people he met. He traveled to Thailand, Fiji, Jamaica, Laos and Australia where he taught children sports, helped build schools and in one case negotiated with native island officials to enact protections on the local barrier reef.
Corbin is survived by his mother Barbara Phillips McMurtrey of Rigby, sister, Kaitlin (Michael) Swanson of Rexburg, brothers, Tyson (Liz) McMurtrey of Rigby, Dustin McMurtrey of Colorado Springs, Colorado and his grandmother Wanda Phillips.
Corbin is preceded in death by his grandfather Dale Phillips, Uncle, Rick Phillips and Cousin Casen Phillips.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Rigby 14 th Ward L.D.S. Chapel (602 Sundance, Rigby, Idaho). The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
