Corene Sarah Johnson Taylor, 87 of Rigby, passed away peacefully at home the evening of February 7, 2014.
She was born on October 7, 1926 to William and Verna Walker Johnson in Grant, Jefferson County, Idaho.
She and her sister, Nadine, and her three brothers, Cliff, Ross, and Bill, grew up on the family farm in Grant. Her father died in a farming accident when Corene was 16 years old. She helped out on the farm with various tasks and learned at an early age to work and take responsibility. She graduated from Midway High School and then worked as a telephone operator.
Corene met the love of her life, Max Taylor, while both were in the hospital for appendix surgery. They started dating and were engaged April 3, 1946. They were married for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on September 4, 1946. To this union were born four children: Rodney, Teresa, Reggie, and Treena.
Corene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings in Young Women, Primary, and Relief Society. She and Max worked in genealogy programs in the Rigby Stake. She enjoyed doing genealogy, gardening, taking pictures, and especially loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Teresa (Dan) of Boise; Reggie, of Salt Lake City; Treena (John) of Lewisville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max, a son, Rodney and her brothers and sister.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, February 15, 2014 at LaBelle 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 4223 E. 528 N, Rigby. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
