Dale Richard Cook

Dale Richard Cook, age 85, of Ucon, passed away at his daughters home, Tuesday April 28, 2015. Dale was born September 27, 1929, in Garfield, Idaho a son to John William Cook and Mary Helena Richie Cook. He was raised and attended schools in Garfield and graduated from Ucon High School. He married Vesta Ida Bird, August 14, 1953 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. As a young man he served a mission to the New Mexico South West Indian Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served building missions throughout his life to England, building a chapel, as supervisor of construction for the Samoa Temple and Tonga Temple. He also served missions to the Family History Church Archives in Salt Lake City, Church Recreation Properties, Ensign Ranch, Washington and Cascade Park, Washington. He served in many capacities including, Stake Young Men’s Secretary and Stake Seventies Quorum President and Temple Officiators in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He worked throughout his life as a builder owning Cook Construction. He enjoyed wood working, poetry, camping, fishing, genealogy, family history, serving missions and his four wheeler. He is survived by his wife Vesta Ida Bird Cook of Ucon, daughters: Arlene Ida (Kent) Blatter of Ammon, Janean Vada (Brent) Smith of Jameston, Idaho, Gaye Deone (Shane) Loertscher of Ammon and Joy Ethel (Ben) Peterson of Wilford, Idaho; sons Roger Alan (Katie) Cook of Vernonia, Oregon, Keith Dale (Margo) Cook of Bear River City, Utah; a sister Ila May Sellers of San Bernardino, California; two brothers William (Betty) Cook and Melvin Cook both of Mesa, Washington, 37 grandchildren and 63 great grandchildren and many more to come. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Starla, 2 grandchildren Brad Blatter and Tammy Cook, and several great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday May 1st 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ucon LDS Stake Center, 3967 E. 105 N. Ucon, with Bishop Jon Holst officiating. The family will visit with friends at the Stake Center Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
