Dale J. Larsen, 76, of Rigby, Idaho died from a heart attack on July 11, 2024. Our hearts are heavy with grief by the loss of a dear husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, teacher, and friend to all that knew him.
Dale was born on February 4, 1948 to Bert and Elaine Larsen in Rexburg, Idaho. Dale was the oldest of four children and was raised in the Archer area. He attended Archer Elementary and graduated from Madison High School where he met the love of his life, Deena Linn Skidmore. They dated all through high school and the only time they were separated was when he served
an LDS mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Pacific Northwest area. It didn’t take long after he returned for them to be married. They were married in the Idaho Falls temple on July 30, 1970. Dale had multiple jobs until he decided to go back to school as a teacher. He taught third and fourth grade for 32 years. He was known by all of his students as “Big L”. He was loved, adored, and treated like a local celebrity. His love for teaching and corvettes was shared with all who knew him.
Dale and Deena were the proud parents of three children: Blake, Scott, and Kami. Family was the most important thing to Dale. He loved cheering on his kids, grandkids, great grandkids at any event they were involved in. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings, but nursery was his favorite. Dale loved hunting with his friend, Phillip Niederer, his sons and grandsons. He loved camping, riding in his Rockabilly (Razr), going to the “hidden” huckleberry patch, and going for corvette rides. But he loved Deena and her blue eyes most of all and called her “Sweetest of My Heart”.
He is survived by his wife, Deena; sons Blake (Sha’Nell) Larsen and Scott (Cheree) Larsen of Rigby, Idaho; daughter Kami (Chad) Webster of Ammon, Idaho; sister Jody Miller of Utah; brother Bob (Karen) Larsen of Rexburg, Idaho. He had 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Christy Walker, and granddaughter Kira Larsen.
