Dale Ray Prophet, 61, of Idaho Falls, died Monday, July 10, 2006, at his home. He was under the care of Family and Hospice Alliance.
Dale was born July 12, 1944 at Rigby a son of David Deering and Virginia Mame Chiles Prophet. He attended Rigby schools and graduated from Rigby High School. He played basketball and other sports while attending Rigby High School. He joined the Idaho National Guard in 1962 and served in Vietnam for 10 months. He married Janice Marie Storms, March 4, 1966 in Rigby. He worked for the Jefferson County Road and Bridge for many years and ranched and farmed in the Rigby and Bone Areas. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed working hard as well as camping, fishing, riding horses, playing guitar, writing songs and spending time with his family.
He is survived by two daughters: Barbara (Byron) Morgan of Ririe, Jana (LeRoy) Mendoza of Idaho Falls, two sons: Jason (Kathy) Prophet of Nampa, Idaho, Larry (Crystal) Prophet of Idaho Falls, his mother Virginia Prophet of Rigby, three sisters Dona (Don) Decker of Rigby, Elaine (Glen) Boyce of Rigby, Linda (Van) Sandifer of Iona, and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2006, at the Iona 1st Ward Chapel. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby and prior to the service on Friday at the church from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery. Military rite will be performed by the Jefferson Veterans Team.
