Darlene Margaret Edelmayer, 67, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, November 14, 2008, at her home.
She was born December 9, 1940, in Roberts, the youngest of 13 children, to John Peter Edelmayer and Ora Mae Trembly Edelmayer. She was raised and attended schools in Roberts. She left home at an early age to start traveling the world. She visited every state but Hawaii, and lived in many foreign countries. During her travel she met and married Stan Perry, they had two children, Stanley Perry and Kirk Perry. She and her boys spent four years in Japan. Several years later she and Stan divorced. She and her boys landed in Idaho Falls later where she met and married Steve Jesperson. Together they had two children, Steven and Jenetta. During this time she made her life serving children and the community. She started “Block Home” a safe place for children, and received many respectable awards for her devotion to the safety of children.
She has been a wonderful mom and mentor to generations of children. Throughout her lifetime she was a successful business owner. She retired with Idaho Falls School Dist. #91, as a school bus driver, in 2002. That same year her best friend Kenyon was born. Although she had many caring friends and family that tried to keep her busy after retirement, she enjoyed and spent most all of her time with her best friend and 1st grandson, Kenyon.
She is survived by her daughter, Jenetta Jesperson (Fiancé Dominic Sereno), and her children, Kenyon Jesperson, Kyan Jesperson, and her third grandchild, who is due to be born on her birthday, December 9, and will be named Jonathon. Sons, Stanley Perry, Steven Jesperson, all of Idaho Falls, sisters, Nelda McCormick, of Seattle, WA, Barbara (Barry) Miller of Florida, brothers, Jack (Carmen) Edelmayer, of Roberts, Bill (Faye) Edelmayer, and Joe Edelmayer, both of Idaho Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, three brothers, and a son, Kirk Perry. The family expresses sincere gratitude to Hospice of Eastern Idaho and Hands of Hope Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to services at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
