Darlene Beal Gilbert, 59, of Rigby, died at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Friday, May 28, 2004. Darlene was born January 27, 1945 at Coalville, Utah a daughter of Jesse Darl Beal and Melba Mae Lewis Beal. She attended schools in Kansas and graduated from South Summit High School. She married Frank Shephard, they latter divorced. On August 24, 1984 she married John Gilbert in Shelley, Idaho. She lived in Kamas, Utah; Shelley, Blackfoot and Rigby, Idaho. Darlene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the gospel serving in many callings including Primary President. She served with the Boy Scouts. She worked for several care centers helping the disabled. She received many awards for her service. She worked for the Idaho Health and Welfare Department. She was currently working for Cannons Contact Carpets. She loved her family very much, was cherished by her family and will be missed greatly. Survivors include: her husband John Gilbert of Pocatello, Idaho, step mother Marge Beal of Myton, Utah, children: Patricia Mae (Mikeal) Dixon of Jerome, Idaho, LeRoy (Shalene) Shepherd of Idaho Falls, Kendra Kay (Brian) Gardner of Blackfoot; Eric Thompson of Boise, and Richard (Julie) Thompson of Ririe, Siblings: Craig (Ida) Beal of Emmett, Idaho; Vernal (Sandra) Beal of Idaho Falls; Dee (Cheri) Beal of Francis, Utah. Danita (Michael) Pierce of Rigby, Maxine (Dan) Gardner of Rosevelt, Utah; Diane (Don) Hansen of West Valley, Utah; Bert (Diane) Jensen of Myton, Utah; Becky (Mark) Crandell of Poea, Utah; Hope (Randy) Rye of Ft. Duchesne, Utah; Bruce (Vickie) Hardinger of Midway, Utah; and 12 grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, a step brother Kirk Hardinger and a step sister Denise Hardinger. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 3, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in the Kamas 1st Ward Chapel (100West Center Street, Kamas) with Bishop Mikael Dixon officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday June 2, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, Idaho and on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at the Church In Kamas. Burial will be in the Marion Cemetery, Marion, Utah.
