Darrel Chancy Hansen

Darrel Chancy Hansen, 80, of Idaho Falls died Monday, January 6, 2014 at his home. He was born July 13, 1933, in Lewisville, to Chancy Hans Hansen and Edith Viola Forsgren Hansen. He was raised and attended schools in Lewisville. He attended Midway High School and graduated from Rigby High School. He continued his education at Idaho State University then graduated with a Bachelors Degree and a Masters Degree from Brigham Young University. On December 20, 1954, he married Margaret Doxey in the Logan LDS Temple. They were later divorced. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1955; he graduated from Flight School and retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. He then returned to school to receive his teaching certificate; he taught Earth Science and Geography at Shelley Jr. High School. On March 23, 1984 he married Lisa Young McCarrey in Idaho Falls; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on April 26, 1985. Darrel was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Ward Clerk, Executive Secretary, and in the Seventies and High Priest Group. He enjoyed shooting, camping, woodworking and radio controlled planes. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Hansen, of Idaho Falls, daughter, Julie (Edmond) Taylor, of Price, Utah, sons, Steven (Julianne) Hansen, of Prattville, Alabama, Eric (Katherine) Hansen, of Meridian, Wayne (Michelle) Hansen, of Salem, Utah, sisters, Bonnie Savage, of Hamer, Veona Hayes (Larry) Hendrick, of Lewisville, 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Idaho Falls 9th Ward LDS Chapel, 395 2nd Street, Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
