Darrel T. Williams

Darrel Thomas Williams, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, December 05, 2012, after many years of health problems. He is survived by his wife, Ila and their children Trudy (Grant) Boehme, of Rexburg, Karla (Alex) Bailey, of Murray, Utah, Jim (Linda) Williams of South Jordan, Utah, Darlene Williams (Jerod McCord) of Idaho Falls; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna (Vernon) Jensen, Liz (Wayne) Pennell, both of Rigby, and brother, Bruce (Leona) Williams of Ashton. Darrell was born May 3, 1933, in Treasureton, Idaho to J. Thomas and Thelda Jackson Williams. He was the second of seven children. He was raised on a farm in Hamer, Idaho where he learned to be a hard worker. He was active in the LDS Church and served a full-time mission to Ontario, Canada. On December 2, 1955, Darrel married Ila Bruce in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in education and taught school for 32 years. Darrel served the West Jefferson Community as a volunteer with the Sheriff’s department and dedicated 24 years as an advanced EMT. He also enjoyed building homes, remodeling homes, and land leveling. In later years he enjoyed assembling puzzles and spent countless hours researching genealogy. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, a brother, Tom Jr., and sisters, Yvonne Murdock and Sharon Park. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday December 10, 2012 at the Ucon Stake Center, 2967 E. 100 N., Idaho Falls, with Bishop Ryan Loftus, conducting. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Sunday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be at the West Jefferson Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Memorial contributions may be made to Mud Lake Ambulance, Terreton, Idaho or Easy Breathers EIRMC Pulmonary Lab, Idaho Falls, Iadho.
