David Craig Greene

April 20, 1957 — May 3, 2024

David Craig Greene, 67, left this frail existence on Friday May 3, 2024 at his home in Rigby, ID. David was born on Saturday April 20, 1957 in Los Angeles, California the second child of Clell Marker Greene and Rita Faye Hill Greene.

David grew up in the Walteria community of Torrance, CA and moved to Palmdale, CA in 1974 where he graduated from Quartz Hill High in 1975. Shortly thereafter, he married Michelle René Kapfer on January 9, 1977 in Palmdale, CA. The couple lived in Visalia, CA and Lucerne Valley, CA before finally settling in Hesperia, CA in 1979 where he and Shelley raised their two children Mandi and Craig. In January 2020, Dave and Shelly move to Rigby, ID.

As the nursery rhyme says, “Saturday’s child works hard for a living,” and Dave truly did. He was a gifted mechanic, making his first repairs at the age of five on his broken bicycle and a clothes dryer at age twelve. He supported his family as a diesel mechanic and worked for Iron Horse Trucking. In 1988 David founded D&S Mobile Truck Repair serving the High Desert of CA.

He enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball and loved playing softball. He also loved riding his Harley-Davidson on the open road. He was able to take “Cherry” to Sturgis, SD in 2015. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved his “toys.”

David was a member on Rigby 7th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shelley of Rigby, ID; daughter Mandi Eileen Greene Garcia (Paul) of Laton, CA; son David Craig Greene, Jr (Nicole) of Ammon, ID; sister Adele Marie Greene of Visalia, CA; brothers Clell Marker Greene, Jr (Kimberly) of Visalia, CA; Christopher Allen Greene of Little Elm, TX; Nicholas Scott Greene (Crystal) of Hot Springs, AR; sister-in-law Tammy Sue Gigante of Underwood, ND; grandsons David Paul Guerra of Monterey, CA; Brycen Anthony Greene of Hesperia, CA; Cory Seth Greene of Ammon, ID. He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Robert Dale Kapfer and Carol Jean Auger Kapfer; brother-in-law Michael Robert Kapfer; and many, many friends!

David will be a great asset to the next realm of existence.

Per David’s request no services will be held. Wherever you are, gather with friends and family and celebrate Dave’s life! He’ll be looking down on us and smiling with those dimples deeper than ever!
