David Leonard Jensen

David L. Jensen, 83 of Sugar City, passed away on Sept. 14, 2026 in Sugar City, Idaho.

He was born in Lebanon, Oregon to Rose May Jensen and Leonard Jensen on February 23, 1943.

He spent his childhood in Oregon around Salem, Eugene as well as Idaho. They moved around a lot from job to job, logging and living in tents.

Around 1956, Dave’s mother decided to move to Sugar City to help her sister, Mary Riddle, run a café. He was in shock when they pulled into town. It was night and the only thing on the street was a jackrabbit. He was used to big towns.

Dave only stayed in Sugar for a short time and he returned to Oregon.

He married Jenaye Peterson. They were later divorced. Dave had two sons with Jenaye, Rick and Trent.

Dave married Linda Goulding in 1965.

Linda had one son from a previous marriage, Cory. It now felt as if they had triplets as all three boys were within two years of age. Together they had a daughter, Jody.

Dave is survived by sons — Rick Jensen (Corinna) of Parker, Idaho; Cory Goulding (Angie) of St. Anthony, Idaho; Trent Jensen of Challis, Idaho.

Justin Kulani (Amanda) of Pinochet, Nevada — a grandson they raised.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jody Jensen Cureton, his mother + father, and 2 brothers — Dale & Chuck. 

Graveside services are tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at the Sugar-Salem-Moody Cemetery, located at 1095 16th E., Sugar City Idaho 83448.
