David Reed Sanders

David REED SANDERS, age 59 of Hamer, Idaho died at his home in Hamer, Thursday, October 19, 2006. Reed was born June 15, 1947 at Rigby, Idaho, the son of David Ray Sanders and Geneva Brown Sanders. Reed grew up and attended schools in Hamer. He graduated from West Jefferson High School in1965. He attended the University of Idaho at Moscow and Ricks College. Reed was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as a High Priest, and ward clerk in the Hamer Ward. Reed bred, raised and trained horses, and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, and served as president of the Eastern Idaho Quarter Horse Association, and was a member of the Idaho Reining Horse Association and served as the president for the Idaho Reining Horse Association and the Eastern Idaho Paint Horse Club. As a young man he was active in the 4-H program, where he showed Hereford cattle and horses. Reed served on the Mud Lake Fair Board for twelve years, and had served as president. Reed was active with the Jefferson County Sheriffs department, where he trained tracking dogs. He served as a dispatcher for Air Idaho Rescue. He was a charter member of the Hamer Lions Club. Reed married Shirley Spencer in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They later divorced. He married Ellen Kay Lindstrom March 24, 1988 in the Idaho L.D.S. Temple. She preceded him in death in 2003. He married Ginger McKinlay June 11, 2005 in Rexburg, Idaho. He is survived by his wife Ginger of Hamer, Idaho. Three daughters; Shauna (Gene) Dutton of Ashton, Idaho; DeeAnn Alcorn of Rexburg, Idaho, and Vanessa Sanders of Hamer, Idaho. Survived by two sons, Ted (Diane) Sanders of Ashton, Idaho, and Bert (Tammy) Sanders of Hamer, Idaho. He is survived by his mother Geneva Sanders; two sisters, Barbara (Larry) Shupe, and Renae (Ned) Zollinger all of Rexburg, Idaho. He is survived by two brothers, Dean (Sandi) Sanders of St. George, Utah, and Darrell Sanders of Huntington Beach, California. He is survived by 10 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his 2nd wife Ellen, an infant daughter, his father, and a sister Norma. Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hamer ward L.D.S. Chapel. The family will receive friends Monday evening 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at the Hamer Ward L.D.S. Chapel, and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
