David Ray Vineyard, 58, of Mesquite, Nevada, passed away September 19, 2010 at Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, Utah, due to complications from a stroke he suffered on July 1, 2010.
He was born September 23, 1951 in Shelley, Idaho to Kit Carson and Emma Williams Vineyard.
David was the ninth of ten children raised in the Rigby, Idaho area. As a young boy he helped his parents with their family owned logging business. He spent many summers working with his dad and brothers in the woods where he developed his passion for the outdoors. David graduated from Rigby High School in Rigby, Idaho in 1969. After graduating he began a forty year long career with the Union Pacific Railroad. The Railroad took him to Kemmerer, Wyoming where he married Kathleen Roberts in 1971. To this marriage four children were born; Shayne Ray, April Ann, Justin Dee, and Preston Dennard.
David’s work with the railroad drew him further away from Kemmerer and he relocated to Mesquite, Nevada in 2005. In 2007 David married Judy Wise. David was an avid outdoorsman and will be remembered for his love of fishing and hunting, building custom fishing rods, fly tying, camping, cooking, music, the Boston Red Sox, and of course his family.
He is survived by his wife, Judy of Mesquite, Nevada, his mother, Emma Vineyard of Iona, Idaho, brothers; Noel (Martha) of Montpelier, Idaho, KC (Beverly) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Bill (Bonnie) of Weiser, Idaho, Greg (Linda) of Casper, Wyoming, and Mark (Dell) of Jerome, Idaho and his children; Shayne (Alison) of Montpelier, Idaho, April (Ron) Brunski of Kemmerer, Wyoming, Justin (Andi) of Kemmerer, Wyoming, and Preston (Kate) of Brooklyn, New York. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Gavyn Ray, Abby Makinsey, Robert Ted, Nicolas Alexander, Taylor Nicole, Tyler Justin, Colter John, and Katlin Mae. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Kit Carson, his brothers James, Larry, Matthew, and his sister Bernice.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25 at 10 am with visitation beginning at 9 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel 101 West Main Street, in Rigby, Idaho. Burial services will follow at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
