David Morris Walker, 81 of Rigby, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at his home. David was born August 21, 1935 in Driggs, Idaho to William “Hugh” Walker and Mary Louise Hodges Walker. He was raised and attended schools in Driggs and Victor, Idaho. He also attended and graduated from high school in Utah. Following high school, David worked at the service station at Pond’s Lodge in Island Park, Idaho. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1957 serving until 1960. He married JoAnn Gallup December 8, 1962 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple; they were blessed with a daughter and 3 sons. In 1962 David enlisted in the US Army; he made this his career, and retired in 1978. He also worked for and retired from the Idaho State Highway Department as a truck driver. David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed the outdoors, fly-fishing, hunting, and rock collecting. He was also a talented woodworker and was known for the yard ornaments he made. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn G. Walker, of Rigby, daughter, Lola M. Jacobs, of Lewisville, sons, Stuart V. Walker, William D. Walker, and Jesse W. Walker, all of Rigby, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-granddaughters. A graveside service will be held at 11am Monday, November 7, 2016 at the Sugar City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:30am, Monday, prior to services, both at the funeral home. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
