Dean Boyce, age 83, of Menan, passed peacefully away at his home, surrounded by family on Thursday, October 19, 2017. Dean was born May 3, 1934, in Lewisville, the second son of Reed S. Boyce and Martha “Fern” Puzey Boyce. He was raised in Lewisville attending local schools and graduating from Rigby High School where he was involved in FFA. He married Carol Ann Fillmore, November 19, 1954 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They were a beautiful couple and full of energy. Carol took him on many traveling adventures, many of which he resisted but he enjoyed. He was a hard worker and farmed all of his life, growing crops in Lewisville Terreton, Mud Lake, Osgood, and Menan areas. He ranched starting with 2 Hereford cows he bought after high school. He ran cows in Spencer, Kilgore, Bone and Driggs as well as on his own land that his dad called “the prettiest ranch in Idaho”. He loved helping things grow and loved caring for animals. He was active in Farm Bureau and 4-H and he served on the Jefferson County Planning and Zoning board. He was an active member of “the club” of dear friends for over 60 years. He was an active member of the LDS Church serving in many callings including: young men’s programs, Sunday school, High Priest Group, activities leader, Menan Stake High Council and BYU-Idaho High Council. He liked to say he was on a mission all of his life, trying to help out who he could and being a good example. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and loved attending their events. He supported his children in sports and scouting, loved to tell jokes and always enjoyed getting to know new people. After 54 years of marriage, his wife Carol passed away unexpectedly April 2, 2008. Following seven years on his own he married his childhood friend Dorothy Gneiting Lundgren, in Lewisville on December 27, 2015. He is survived by his four sons, David (Cayla) Boyce of Grant, Gary Boyce of Menan, Tyler Boyce of Menan and Laren (MacKenzie) Boyce of Eagle Mountain, Utah, a daughter, SherRee (Rodney) Jack of Ucon, his wife Dorothy of Draper, Utah, a sister, Marilyn (Terry) McGrew of Lake Havasu, Arizona, one brother Ronald (Norma) Boyce of Edmonds, Washington, nineteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Ann Fillmore Boyce, a daughter Bonnie LaDean, two brothers, Blake and Clyde and his parents. Funeral services will be Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Menan LDS Stake Center, 698 North 3600 East, Menan, Idaho with Bishop Neil Jensen officiating.
