Dean Willard Hayes, age 76, of Rigby, died Monday April 24, 2006 at the Rexburg Nursing and Rehab in Rexburg, Idaho.
Dean was born July 31, 1929 at Rigby, a son of Richard Willard Hayes and Edna Blanche Jensen Hayes. He attended Rigby Schools graduating from Rigby High School. He was active in basketball and track in High School. He married Sarah Arlene Gneiting, November 2, 1949 in the Idaho Falls Temple. He worked as a plasterer for Albert Allen Plastering, for Woodrow Birch and George and Jesse’s Tire as a mechanic, in Potato Warehouses, Fresh Pak and for Eddy’s Bakery. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Church Athletic Programs and as Ward Clerk. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping and was known by his grandchildren as the best grandpa in the world.
He is survived by his wife Arlene Hayes of Rigby, two daughters: Jana Lee Meek of Rigby and Nancy Ann (Wynn) Monk of Idaho Falls, two sons: Michael Dean (Charissa) Hayes of Bountiful, Utah and Paul David Hayes of Idaho Falls, 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Keith R. Hayes and Louis Hayes and a sister Lucille Ker.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rigby Stake Center 258 West 1st North, Rigby with Bishop Brad Anderson officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel 101 West Main Street, Rigby and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Grant Central Cemetery.
