Deanna Rae Wilde

January 1, 1937 — July 13, 2015

Our loving mother, grandma, sister, and friend, Deanna Rae Hubbard Wilde, 78, passed away on Monday July 13, 2015 at her home in Roberts surrounded by her family. Deanna was a New Year’s baby, born on January 1, 1937, in Rigby, Idaho, to Lee and Lenore Hubbard. Her childhood years were in Rigby where she grew up with her 2 sisters in a neighborhood of boys. They were known as “The Neighborhood Gang”. Needless to say, they did boy stuff like play: kick the can, Anti-I-over, Hide-and-seek, Run Sheep Run, Sandlot Baseball, and played outside at night. On occasion they would do girl stuff and play with their dolls and dishes in the big hole on Main Street. One of her favorite pass times was to beg for a soup bone from the local butcher to make mulligan stew in a gallon can in the back alley. Deanna loved to have parties and was known for the spectacular Halloween Parties she hosted every October. She attended grade school and junior High in Rigby. She had a love for music and played the clarinet in the band (they also had a marching band). She took private music lessons to improve her skill and took great pride in achieving First Chair clarinet. When she was a sophomore in High School her family moved to Roberts where they opened and operated The Roberts Café’. She worked as a waitress and learned many cooking skills from her Father who was a great Chef. These skills have followed her throughout her life and she has cooked and served people ever since. To pay for her school clothes (The famous Jantzen sweaters), she picked potatoes with a potato basket and a gunny sack (a whole lot more work than picking potatoes today). Deanna was an excellent student and loved school. Her Senior year she was voted Student Body President of Roberts High School. That was just the beginning of her many leadership positions and responsibilities throughout her life. She was a born leader and had a knack for organizing and loved to plan and lead in many capacities. The chase was over when Deanna finally agreed to marry Elmer George Wilde on November 18, 1955. They have lived and farmed in Roberts their whole married life. Together they took care of the Market Lake Cemetery for 41 years. Deanna loved God and country. She served in many positions in her church including; compassionate service leader (organizing and serving food for funeral luncheons), Primary teacher, Music Leader, Relief Society Teacher, and Achievement Day Leader. She was a member of the Topps Club, the Garden Club and a Pinochle club. She had a love for quilting and quilted with friends every Tuesday. She enjoyed lunch with a special group of friends each month. She loved anything that would grow and because she had a green thumb she could make everything grow. She was a Master Gardener and knew everything about flowers and gardening. She taught gardening classes and was the “go to” person for any garden questions. She was a wealth of knowledge when it came to food, whether it was growing it, or cooking it. She spent so many hours in the little house with glass windows (her greenhouse) planting seeds and preparing the plants that would provide the food for so many people. She know just what seeds to plant and which seeds would produce the most food. Her plants knew she loved them and they made her as happy as she made them. She fed and provided food for so many people and was always giving and sharing everything she had. Deanna believed in growing and preserving her own food and she canned everything she grew. She loved to cook and could make a leftover taste better than the first time. Deanna loved God, family, Country, helping others, giving, planting, gardening, quilting, canning, cooking, camping, traveling, grandkids, friends, games, reading, going to the movies, and having lunch with her friends. She was a happy person who loved life and everything in it. She lived life to the fullest and made the best of every situation. She loved people and they loved her. Deanna was an amazing, remarkable, superb, kind, loving, giving, happy, phenomenal, exceptional, extraordinary, incredibly special, person who lived an exceptional life. Deanna is survived by her sons: Matt (Janae) Wilde and Bruce (Shelley) Wilde, both of Roberts, Daughters: Lisa (Dusty) Stibal of Idaho Falls and Linda Kae Wilde Pincock of Roberts, 2 sisters: Lynda Peterson of Caldwell and Sandy Hockwart of Star, 14 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer George Wilde, Parents; Leland Ray Hubbard and Hazel Lenore Barrow Hubbard; 2 half-sisters Phyllis Worth and Shirley Webster, and one Granddaughter, Kristina Marie Wilde.
