Del Killian

H. Delbert “Del” Killian, 74, of Idaho Falls, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Idaho Falls. He was born August 31, 1934, in Rigby to Delbert Henry Killian and Mary Campbell Killian. He was raised in Rigby and Ririe and attended school in Milo, Rigby, Ririe, Ucon, and graduated with the first graduating class of Bonneville High School in 1952. He continued his education at Utah State, ISU, then U of I, where he received his B. S. in Mechanical Engineering. He farmed in Milo, Ririe, and Coltman. He worked in a potato warehouse, and in a sugar factory in Lincoln. In 1956 he was drafted into the Military, he served in the U.S. Army as a Petroleum Specialist and on the Fort Lee Rifle Team in Virginia; he was honorably discharged in 1958. On May 5, 1961, he married Venece Fullmer in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. He worked for the INL as a Mechanical Engineer retiring in 1995. Del was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as M.I.A President, and Home Teacher, was involved with Scouting, Sunday School, Elders Quorum, High Priests Group, and served a church service mission with his wife. He was a life member of the NRA and achieved the Lifetime Master Classification in small bore rifle competition. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Venece Killian, of Idaho Falls, his children, Steven (Margie) Killian, of Syracuse, Ut., Bryce (Paula) Killian of Declo, Idaho, Christine (Charles) Eckersell, of Layton, Ut., Carol Aitken, of Idaho Falls, sisters, Jane (Revar) Harris, of Idaho Falls, Sharon Barr, of Boise, Ann (Jim) Grifith, of Rigby, brother, Gene (Linda) Killian, of Ammon, and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Clair Killian and a sister Sue Hoag. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009, at the Coltman, 1st Ward, LDS Chapel, with Bishop Larry Clayton, conducting. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St., Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, at the Church. Burial will be in the Cache Clawson Cemetery, under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
