Delbert Henry Hildreth

August 7, 1940 — October 23, 2023

Delbert (Del) Henry Hildreth, age 83, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones from a battle with cancer on October 23, 2023 in Pocatello, Idaho.

Del was born on August 7, 1940 in Sandpoint, Idaho to Delbert Edward Hildreth and Phyllis Lareine Howke. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Priest River Idaho where Del was raised and attended school. Soon after graduating high school, he enlisted in the Navy and honorably served our country from 1961-1964.

On June 1, 1962 Delbert married Diana Anne Grimmett, but they later divorced. On September 24, 2004 in Springville, Utah He married Janet (Jan) Alicia Wells. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo Temple on October 14, 2005.

Del attended Ricks college in Rexburg, Idaho before attending Idaho State University in Pocatello. Idaho where he received his degree in Secondary Education. He later returned to Idaho State University to receive both his Master’s and Education Specialist Degrees. His career in teaching spanned many years including places such as Pocatello and Plummer, Idaho and Kingman, Arizona.

Del was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served faithfully in many church callings including a mission with his wife Jan at the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Del loved camping, western movies and books, listening to country music and playing cribbage. He enjoyed leather and bead working and making jewelry. He loved to travel and to try new foods especially buffets. Del also enjoyed officiating basketball and umpiring baseball games over the years. But most of all, Del loved spending time with his family and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Delbert and Phyllis Hildreth, Brother-in-law Buzz Reynolds, and great-grand daughter Chloe M. Millett.

Del is survived by his wife, Janet; his children Kristina (Kristopher) Kofoed, Lynette (Jim) Bono, Jay (Kimberly) Hildreth, and Mark Hildreth; step children Terry (Nyle) Farmer, Robert (Diane) Sipe, and Thomas (Patti) Golson; sister Nona Reynolds, brothers Ray (Mary-Catherine) Hildreth and Phillip Hildreth. He has 17 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

There will be a small viewing at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 28th, at the Eckersell Funeral Home located at 101 W Main St, in Rigby, Idaho. A graveside service will be held for Delbert on Monday October 30th, at 12:00 P.M. at the Evergreen Cemetery (1997 S 400 E St Springville UT 84663).
