Delfido "Mike" Martinez

Long time Rawlins resident Delfido “Mike” Martinez passed away at his home in Rigby, Idaho at the age of 87 from Melanoma Cancer. He was under the care of Encompass Home Health. Mike was born on March 5, 1931 in Cleveland, New Mexico, the son of Jose Adolfo Martinez and Bersabe Sanchez Martinez. Mike left New Mexico at an early age and was invited to live in the home of his Aunt Racheal (who he called Mom) together they raised nieces Rachel and Dora. In his early years he worked at Walter’s Bakery and later retired from Sinclair Refinery. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, gambling, working on puzzles, bowling, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known to many as “Uncle Mike”. Mike is survived by his sister Flora Montoya Gonzales of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Rachel (Wayne) Galbraith of Rigby, Idaho, Dora Jimenez of Denver, Colorado, Edna Medina of Wellsville, Utah, Eileen Widdison of Wellsville, Utah, Diana (Mack) Miller of Saratoga, Wyoming, Michael Medina, of Denver, Colorado, John Medina of Rawlins, Wyoming, as well as numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his foster mom Racheal Sanchez, sisters: Eva Cordova, Ida Johanson, Pauline Sanchez, Elisa Sanchez, Nora Fox, brothers: George Martinez, Joe Martinez, Gilbert Martinez, George Sanchez, Paul Sanchez, Paul Sanchez Jr. He will be greatly missed by all. Services will be held in Rawlins, Wyoming at a later date.
