Wilford Deloy Hammon, 63, of Menan, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls from complications of Kidney Failure.
He was born August 17, 1949 in Idaho Falls to Wilford Lee Hammon and Mary Elizabeth Shaw Hammon. He attended schools in Menan and Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School. He continued his education at Eastern Idaho Vo-Tech, earning an Associate’s Degree in electronics. On March 26, 1971 he married Roxana Joyce Hubbs in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple; they were blessed with 6 children. Deloy worked as a Machine Operator for Idahoan Foods and as a Service Technician for Valley Office Systems.
Deloy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he was called to serve in the Western Canadian Mission and worked with Native Indian tribes, he also served as a High Priest and a Home Teacher. He was active in The Boy Scouts of America as a young man and throughout his adult life and earned the Eagle Scout Award as well as the Silver Beaver Award.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, hunting, fishing and looking for the perfect sticks to make canes from. He also enjoyed reminiscing about the past and collecting coins and stamps.
He is survived by his wife, Roxana Hammon, of Menan, daughters, Colette Hammon, of Lewisville, Tiffany (Eric) Larson, of Rigby, sons, Kevin Deloy Hammon, of Menan, Timothy John (Kaitlyn) Hammon, of Rigby, sisters, Lois (Dennis) Hansen, of Rexburg, Jolene (Dave) Willis, of Rigby, sister-in-law, Alice Hammon, of Menan, and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Mitchell and Douglas Hammon and a brother, Terry Hammon.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Menan Stake Center, 698 N. 3600 E., Menan, with Bishop Vance Nelson, conducting. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
