Delpha Clements Van Zant

Delpha Clements Van Zant, 87, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Magalia, California, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She and her twin sister were born July 29, 1924, in Hibbard, Idaho to William Joseph Clements and Rebecca Violet McKenna Clements. They were the youngest of seven children. She was raised and attended schools in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School in 1942. She married LaMar Hall in September of 1942. They were later divorced. On July 4, 1971 she married Billy Orville Van Zant in Las Vegas, Nevada; they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Delpha worked for the Pacific Telephone Company for 30 years in Southern California; upon retiring she and Bill moved to Northern California where they built their dream home in Magalia and lived there for 30 years. Delpha moved to Idaho Falls in 2009 to be closer to family. She lived at Fairwinds Retirement Community where she enjoyed making friends with the other residents and staff; playing cards, dominos, bingo and taking part in other activities. Delpha was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in the Young Women’s program. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneer Women’s Club of America. Delpha is survived by her sister, Ruby Wright, of Menan, Idaho, her brother; Blair J. Terry, of Showlow, Arizona, as well as several nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents, brothers; Reid, Carrol, and Dwyane Clements, sisters; Beulah Terry and Della Harrison. The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Patrick Gorman, Dr. Shawn Speirs, and the nurses on the fifth and sixth floor of EIRMC for their kind treatment and care of their sister and aunt. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Menan 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 3547 Menan Lorenzo Hwy with Bishop Gary Asper conducting. Interment was at the Rexburg Cemetery on April 27, 2012. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
