Dennis K. Ashbocker, 77, of Rigby Idaho, passed away September 18, 2012 at his home.
Dennis was born October 5, 1934 in Rexburg, Idaho to Albert Jacob Ashbocker and Anna Louise Davis Ashbocker. He attended schools in Archer and Rexburg. He enlisted in the US Army and served in Germany. He married Renee Hoffman in Rigby on April 3, 1953. He worked at the INL as an Operator, Electrician and Forman, retiring in 1992.
He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a High Priest Group Leader, Ward Clerk, High Councilman and various other callings. He and his wife served a welfare service mission in Utah and also served in the Richmond Virginia Mission. He along with his wife, Renee served as officiators in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for several years.
Dennis was very service oriented, and used his skills in building to help many people, and would welcome others into his home if they needed a place to stay. He loved to go steelhead fishing, and for many years went to the coast sturgeon fishing, always taking whoever wanted to go. He loved his family more than anything, and would do anything for them.
He is survived by his wife, Renee Ashbocker, of Rigby, sons, Kyle (Peggy) Ashbocker, Blake (Karla) Ashbocker, both of Rigby, sisters, Betty Chase, Bonnie McMurtrey, brother, Delbert “Butch” Ashbocker, all of Rigby, nine grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Gary and Darrel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 21, 2012, at the Rigby South Stake Center. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
