Dennis Josiah Blackburn, age 65, of Menan died at his home Tuesday, September 04, 2007.
He was born November 11, 1941, at Burley, Idaho, to Alfred Lamb Blackburn and Dolly Grace Anderson Blackburn. Dennis was raised and attended schools in the Rigby and Thornton areas. He continued his education at Vo-Tech to become a denturist. He served in the Army National Guard.
June 4, 1965 Dennis Married Julia Kay Clifford in Rigby, their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. He worked on several buildings in the local area as a hod carrier and a labor.
He was a member of the LDS Church and served as a primary teacher.
He was an avid Elvis Presley music fan and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, card games and games with the family. Dennis was a family man who always encouraged family outings and closeness, his grandchildren were his life and he will be missed greatly by them.
He is survived by his wife Julia, daughters; Tareen (Dwayne) Hinckley of Idaho Falls, and Tess (Arlus) Hibbert of Shelley, sons; Travis (Sharlene) Blackburn of Jerome, and Trent (Dana) Blackburn of Rigby, a sister; Ret (Harry) Guelzow of Rigby, brothers; Craig (Linda) Blackburn of Rigby, Richard Blackburn of Meridian, and 19 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Monte Blackburn and Carrol Blackburn, and a nephew, Courtney Blackburn.
A Grave Side Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2007 at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, (101 West Main Street)
