Dennis G Mortensen recently passed away in Idaho. He was born in 1949, in Montana, to Donald and Lois. From the picturesque surroundings of Montana, Dennis carried with him a love for nature that would influence many aspects of his life. In 1969, Dennis married Karen in Washington. They had one son, Tracy, who passed away in 1970, after which the marriage ended. Dennis married Malinda in the Salt Lake Temple in 1978. They had two sons. A man of many talents and passions, Dennis pursued a degree in Nursery Management and Landscape Design, which he applied to his lifelong interest in gardening and landscaping. He dedicated significant time and effort to maintaining his yard, cultivating a variety of trees, flowers, and vegetables. In addition to his gardening skills, Dennis was proficient in woodworking, producing fine furniture in his workshop. He had a natural aptitude for fixing things, particularly anything with a motor, and was known for his ability to learn and master anything he set his mind to. Dennis had a deep love for music and was an accomplished guitarist, spending hours perfecting his craft. His musical talent extended to singing, and he participated in choirs, with music playing a steady role in his life. He also had a passion for fishing, spending days on the river casting lines and tying his own flies. His love for the outdoors reflected his deep connection to nature, where he found both calm and inspiration. Dennis’s talents and passions enriched the lives of those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, creativity, and dedication that profoundly impacted his family, his craft, and his community. His generosity in sharing his skills and the connections he made through his varied interests will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Dennis is survived by his devoted mother, Lois, and his siblings: Linda, Bruce (Kathy), Loren (Paula), Monty (Teresa), Risa, Mark (Brenda), Jeannie, and Trina (Ray). He is also survived by two sons and eight grandchildren
Graveside services for family and friends will be held September 28, 2024 at the Basin Cemetery in Oakley, ID at 11:00 am.
