Deward Charles Jensen

Deward Charles “D.C.” Jensen, 94, of Ogden, formerly of Idaho Falls, died Friday, March 16, 2012 in Ogden, Utah. He was born February 2, 1918, in Burton, Idaho to Charles Jensen and Grace Elizabeth Larsen Jensen. He served in the U.S. Army from 1936 to 1939. On October 15, 1940, he married Velda Selma Searle in Rigby, Idaho; their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. He worked as a bus driver for the INL Site for over 30 years. Deward was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was active in scouting from many years. He loved helping others, enjoyed square dancing and calling square dances. He also enjoyed traveling and loved the outdoors, especially Island Park. He is survived by his wife, Velda Jensen, daughters, Carol Lee (Steve) Hoopes, Kathie Selma Foster, all of Ogden, Utah, sons. Ronney Kay (Kay) Jensen, of Wichita Falls, Texas, Darrell Albert (Jean) Jensen, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, 11 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Verelan Jensen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Idaho Falls East Stake Center, 1860 Kearney St., Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Teton Newdale Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
