On Monday, March 29, 2021, Don Bruce Peterson, loving husband and father passed away at the age of 75. Don was born on April 30, 1945 in Salem, Utah to Elmer Theodore and Tena Maud Shell Peterson. He was the oldest twin of he and brother Dale Shell Peterson. His brothers, Larry and Neil and an older sister, Kathleen.
Don was called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Central Britain Mission. He served in England and Wales. He loved serving and especially loved the Welch people. After returning home, he attended BYU in Provo, Utah where he took a class in ballroom dancing. This is where he met Norma Lois Dickey, his soon to be eternal companion. They were married November 20, 1967 in Eaton Town, New Jersey. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Don was drafted in to the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served in Vietnam as a fixed station specialist. On his return home he took employment as a welder at the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company where he retired after 35 years with the company.
Don loved to animals, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He had opportunity to serve in two bishoprics and many times as High Priest Group Leader. He had a strong testimony and was always serving others.
Don is survived by his wife, Norma Peterson and their five children; Jennifer (Hyrum) Davenport, Jeff (Katrina) Peterson, Charlotte (Jon) Twitchell, Carla (Tai) Than Throng and Nancy (Kline) Pearson. A sister, Kathleen Atwood and brothers, Larry (Marjorie) Peterson, Neil (Vickie) Peterson and Dale (Linda) Peterson and twenty-three grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Belleannette Peterson, Brother-in-law, Doyle Atwood and a grandson, Bradley James Peterson.
A funeral service will be held for Don on Friday, April 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street, Rigby, ID). The family will meet with friends prior to services from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at Eckersells. Interment and military rites will be held at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
