Donald H Byington, 73, of Ririe, Idaho died November 10, 2004 at the Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Donald was born August 11, 1931 in Ririe, Idaho a son of Eugene Parley Byington and Irene Wanda Hunsaker Byington. Donald was raised, attended school and worked on the family farm in the Ririe area. He joined the United States Navy on June 20, 1949 and served in the Korean War. While in the Navy he was a Avionic Electronic Technician Third Class. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, and the China Service Medal. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on April 19, 1953. Donald married Lynon “Lonnie” Lee. She preceded him in death. He worked at Hollywood Bowl/Plaza Lanes and was a life long American Bowling Congress member. He was inducted into the Idaho Falls Bowling Hall of Fame. He belonged to the Snake River Valley Pool Players Association. Donald loved bowling, pool and leather crafting
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Lee Howard of Idaho Falls, Victoria Rae Ward of Idaho Falls, Teresa Lynn (Carl) Martineau of Mesa, Arizona and Denise Byington of Utah; two sons Michael John (Holly) Byington of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kenneth Don Byington of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Five sisters, Barbara (Amel) Landon of Ririe, May Carpenter of Rigby, Bonnie (Hal) Woolstenhulmne of Ririe, Delores (Gary) Monroe of Ririe, and Ramona (Leston) Woods of Ririe. Three brothers, Dale Byington of Ririe,
Paul (Jean) Byington of Idaho Falls, and Harold Byington of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one grandson Thomas Ward.
Funeral services will be held on Friday November 19, 2004 at the Ririe Second Ward Chapel (285 2nd West) at 10:00 a.m. with Bishop Steve Hickman officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel. Military rites will be performed by the Jefferson Veterans team.
