Donald Harwood Curnutt passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday October 16, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old.
Don was born February 28, 1930, in Butte Montana to Myrl Estel Curnutt and June Beasley Curnutt. The family finally settled south of Idaho Falls. Don attended elementary school at the Washington School House and graduated from Shelley High School in 1948.
After high school Don continued working on the family farm south of Idaho Falls. Shortly thereafter he met the love of his life, Florence Beck and they were married on November 25, 1949. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 24, 1965. They were blessed with three children, Linda, Craig and Tammy. The family lived and worked on the farm until 1966 when Don accepted a job in Seattle, Washington. They returned to Idaho Falls in 1969 and moved to Rigby in 1993. Don has owned and operated Curnutt Inc. with his wife and two eldest children since 1992.
Don was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as an Assistant Membership Clerk, as First Assistant in the High Priests Group and as a Scout Leader for the Explorers. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and camping. He always enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters, his children, and especially his grandchildren. His family was his first priority. He was always first to help any family or friends in need.
Don leaves behind his children, Linda(Cleve) Hendrickson of Rigby; Craig(Vida) Curnutt of Rigby; and Tammy (Blake) Heiner of Roy, Utah; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grand-children; sister Nellie (Guy) Poulsen of Idaho Falls and brother Edwin ‘Mike’ William (Karen) Curnutt
He was preceded in death by his wife Florence Beck Curnutt, brother Myrl ‘Pete’ Arthur Curnutt, sister Marjie Lucille Curnutt Sage, mother June Beasley Curnutt, and father Myrl Estel Curnutt.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Rigby East Stake Center, 4021 E. 300 N. Rigby. A viewing will be held from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Friday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St., Rigby. There will not be a visitation prior to funeral services on Saturday. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery, East 129th South, Idaho Falls.
